Staff from the Youth Agency had an amazing day working with S6 pupils at Forrester High School. We designed and ran a training day to prepare the new S6 pupils for their role as prefects in the new school year.
The young people took part in a number of activities looking at all sorts of skills from communication and listening skills to teamwork. Pupils also spent a chunk of the day thinking about how to help younger and more vulnerable pupils as well as remembering what it was like to be in first year!
Everyone approached the day with a great attitude, got stuck in and had a fantastic and productive time. Here are what some of the sixth year said:
“It covered a lot of things and I will be able to use it when I am perfecting and to help first years.”
“I will be able to use what I’ve learnt with the first and second years and anyone with a problem.”
“In difficult situations I can put the skills I learned today into practice.”
“It’s been good fun.”
Our photo shows a group of pupils working on non verbal communication and realising that it may not be quite as easy as they think!
